Static Hill is a first-person walk through Historic Valley Junction in West Des Moines, built from the real street map. It runs at 240 rows with the dither, wobble and vertex lighting of the PS1 era. The day takes ten minutes, people wander the sidewalks, and one of them will talk to you. It's the engine for an interactive story I'm writing, so right now it's a place to walk, not yet a game to finish.
- Streets, buildings and shop names come from OpenStreetMap
- Ten-minute day and night cycle, lamps and neon come on at dusk
- People walk the real sidewalks; press E (or tap Talk) to talk
- Works on a phone: left thumb walks, drag to look
- Everything is drawn in code, no downloaded art
